About this opportunity
WIDU.africa is a financing mechanism for micro and small businesses in participating African countries. An entrepreneur and a diaspora supporter each invest in the business, and the programme adds a matching grant and business coaching. The first grant is up to €3,000, and later applications can receive up to €5,000. The grant is equity-free. Applications are reported to be open on a rolling basis, and WIDU also runs thematic local calls, such as a green business call in Ghana that did not require a diaspora donor but has now closed. Which countries take part, the rules on registration and business size, and the process for finding a diaspora supporter are set out on the WIDU website, so read the current call before you apply.
